Braking performance is based on four factors, from the quality and size of the brake disc, the diameter and number of pistons in the caliper, the fluid in the hoses, calipers, lever and the stiffness of the entire system. Trickstuff has focused on all four of these aspects and produced a MAXIMA brake that won't let you down at high altitudes, low temperatures or when descending the Alps without a break with an elevation gain of 1,000 metres or more. Whether you have 27.5" or 29" wheels, MAXIMA will brake your bike as hard as you need it to.

The MAXIMA caliper is different from the competition. The four hollow steel pistons, 16 and 17mm in diameter, have minimal contact with the brake pad, dissipate heat better, overheat less, and thus can deliver consistent performance even on longer descents. The caliper is firmly connected by two steel bolts which make it very rigid. It is easy to adjust on the frame/fork due to the greater clearance mobility when tightening.

The MAXIMA lever is equipped with a 9mm POM plastic piston which has excellent wear resistance and also very low friction. Thanks to the low friction and the ratio between the lever piston and the caliper pistons, MAXIMA can offer the user maximum braking performance. The finger lever is held in the brake body by two main industrial bearings and two in the connecting rod to reduce drag and friction. These 4 bearings prevent any axial play, so the lever will always be firm. The lever is longer than standard brakes, also because of this it can produce more braking force than competitive brakes. The distance from the handlebars can be easily adjusted without tools with the wheel between the lever and the lever body. The brake lever is supported by the handlebar at two points, thus increasing the stiffness of the whole brake.

MAXIMA Bionol is the fluid for flowing in the Trickstuff brake system, it is made from vegetable oil and is environmentally friendly. Bionol mineral oil has a low viscosity, which allows the fluid to flow faster in the system and thus a constant pressure point, smooth operation and is resistant to low temperatures. Bionol has a high boiling point of 360-420C, which is significantly higher than competitive mineral oil or DOT brake fluids. The high boiling point is important for heavy use during longer downhill runs. When the boiling point is exceeded, bubbles form in the brakes, resulting in a loss of performance.

MAXIMA discs are available in standard and Power+ versions. Both are supplied with the brakes, with the standard starting at the braking power where the competition brakes offer their maximum. Power+ are the discs that offer maximum performance with a nickel plated back plate. The pads are also compatible with Hope Tech 3, 4 - V4 brakes.

MAXIMA brakes are easy to service, every part can be ordered from ALPIS and we can also replace them for you. Trickstuff recommends to change the fluid at least once every two years.
